A game behind closed doors at the Tottenham training ground saw a first victory of the season against Brentford of League One.
A goal from the Welsh wizard put Tottenham one up but it was not to be plain sailing as Brentford hit back with 2 goals before the break. A long range effort and a penalty after Caulker had handled saw Spurs behind at half-time.
On came a different Spurs XI for the second half and Defoe to grab 2 goals and clinch the Tottenham victory.
It was notable that Kaboul played in the second half as he recovers from his knee injury. Also the game was behind closed doors so details are few but I think we may have set up in a 4-3-3 system.
Spurs 1st half team: Friedel, Naughton, Dawson, Caulker, Rose, Mason, Huddlestone, Bentaleb, Lennon Bale Obika
Spurs 2nd half team: Archer, Smith, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Stewart; Parker, Carroll, Sigurdsson, Townsend Defoe Ceballos
Spurs Goals: Bale, Defoe 2
