Clint Dempsey wanted by WBA

The Birmingham Mail are telling their readers that West Bromich Albion are after attacker Clint Dempsey from Spurs to link up with Nicolas Anelka.
They throw in a couple of spanners of course, just in case they are wrong, the usual two, wages and transfer fee. Don't want to be left with egg on the face after all.
Having signed Nicolas Anelka, who didn't look very happy to have signed on the promotion video released, Steve Clarke wants to strengthen further with the addition of Dempsey who we signed for £6 million they say.
I can see Dempsey fitting in well at WBA and having a good season. He scored 12 goals for us last season and 23 for Fulham before that so knows where the net is. He is another player who divides Spurs fans between sell him and he's a decent squad player.
Despite scoring some vital goals, especially both games against Manchester United, his contribution is often over looked and unappreciated. At 30 he does not have time on his side so he may want regular football. However having signed Anelka, who won't be cheap, I can't image there is a massive amount left in the pot for new wages.
