Since publishing the "No to Bellamy" article, I got a few emails from Joe Public telling me that he's exactly the type of player we need.Fair enough, everyone's entitled to their own opinion. It also looks like Harry's using his media connections to see if Bellamy's side take the bait. If they do and we read "I've always admired Harry Redknapp" type statements, expect him to wear Lilywhite. Thing is, we would need to sell. Pav's on his way out and may be followed by a couple more, but would you sell Robbie Keane in a bid to bring in Craig Bellamy?Harry's...

No to striker
Posted on 10:26 AM by Unknown
All this talk of us signing Bellamy has really got me banging my head against the wall. Do I think he's a quality striker? Yes. Can he fit into our team? Absolutely not!First off, if Harry does end up signing him, can someone tell me where he's supposed to play? With Modric on the way back and Crouch & Defoe reforming their partnership, why risk it all on a player that has a dodgy knee and a temperamental personality?I do think he's quality. You've got to be an idiot to say otherwise. He's proved for City this season that maybe we should...

Christmas points please, not Christmas party
Posted on 11:08 AM by Unknown
Tottenham meet Fulham on Boxing Day for the third consecutive season, but on this occasion we travel to Craven Cottage. As Premier League tests go it is a stern one, with the Cottagers riding high after thrashing Manchester United. We have won only one of our eight league trips to Fulham since they returned to the top flight in 2001/02, drawing three times and losing on four occasions. This record, combined with Spurs' traditional mid-winter vulnerability on our travels, will make Boxing Day lunch a nervous affair. However, the team's battling win...

Bobby & Benitez
Posted on 10:30 AM by Unknown
I suppose it's all good news for Spurs in relation to the media leaving us alone as regards "Spurs to make the top four", especially with the Liverpool boss making the near impossible comment of "we will make the top four", although to be fair, he didn't mention which season he was implying that they accomplish this, did he?Today, our other new media mate, Bobby Mancini, stated the following; "My target is to arrive in the top four. That is my target, I think it is possible." Again, no mention of which season this target is to be achieved, but...

Hughes and City was always going to end in tears
Posted on 9:29 AM by Unknown
It is hard enough for those managers chosen by billionaire owners – think Jose Mourinho and Luis Felipe Scolari – so the job faced by those already in place when Mr. Moneybags arrives is all but impossible.Mark Hughes was clearly poorly treated by Sheikh Mansour, but the sack cannot have come as too much of a shock, as I predicted in my article, Would you want a Manchester City style owner? - Published on Friday, 17th July 2009. He might publicly say that he was tasked with securing a top six finish, but he must have privately known that boardroom...

Reports in Italy Confirm that Mancini will Replace Hughes
Posted on 9:43 AM by Unknown
Not that it's my forte to be listening to talkSPORT, but Stan Collymore (the man with more questions than answers) has just announced that reports in Italy have confirmed that former Inter boss and Leicester City player, Roberto Mancini, IS the new Manchester City manager.I personally think this equals a tragic formula;Rich Owners + Knowing Nothing About Football = Making All The Wrong DecisionsWhy give a manager over £200 million if you're even thinking about sacking him if things don't go down as you planned them? What if Mancini is given a war-chest...

Away Banker?
Posted on 12:18 PM by Unknown
After our great win on Wednesday, it would be great if we could cap off the week with a win over Blackburn at Ewood Park. Thing is, I can't see us beating them. It's not that they're in great form, but Ewood Park is a bit of a dodgy ground for us. Rumours are that Modders & Kranny could start the game, just like they do for Croatia. Would be an interesting line up if that were the case. Either way, Carlos will be at the match, tweeting away. Prediction: Blackburn 2-2 SpursCOYS...

I've just had the non-pleasure of watching the World Cup Draw fiasco. Did the organisers hire the EuroVision management team to put this together? Manchester City to get into the top 4? Don't make me laugh
Posted on 8:55 AM by Unknown
I've just had the pleasure of watching Manchester City draw for a 7th consecutive time at home to Hull.Is this the Manchester City that is supposed to throw Liverpool or Arsenal out of the top four? You're joking, right? If they continue playing as they have done, there's not a glimmer of hope that this side will finish anywhere near the top four, let alone in it.Hat's off to Hull though. Phil Brown has got them playing, but it's no coincidence that the Tigers have started to climb the table upon the return of Jimmy Bullard. He was fantastic...

Our Board is Confident
Posted on 10:30 AM by Unknown
It was good to hear that our board have submitted our proposed new stadium within London's host application of stadia for the 2018 World Cup bid. Some may see this as a good sign in relation to our new stadium submission plans being accepted by Haringey Council. Let's face it; the Tottenham area is in need of some sort of regeneration project. The area around the ground is crying out for it and so the rumours of the plans being fast-tracked through the system, don't seem far off the mark.As regards the World Cup bid, do you think we stand a chance...
Wenger Talks Rubbish
Posted on 8:24 AM by Unknown

I've just come across The Sun's rendition of Mr. Arsène Wenger's attempt at talking up his sides chances on Sunday against Chelsea."We are not any more a team that has to be considered to be young. We have the strengths and can show on Sunday that we are strong enough to compete."Did he actually say that? I know this is a Spurs blog, but I just couldn't resist putting my neck on the line and stating that Arsenal will lose on Sunday. I can see...
January Transfer Targets
Posted on 5:00 AM by Unknown
We're not far off of the January Sales and as usual, the media have us pinned down as spenders. To fair though, they've not gone all out and branded us as major spenders. So far, The Mirror have come up with the notion that Harry is to make a bid for City's Micah Richards, whilst The Telegraph have provided us with the news that la-Z-boy Adriano, will replace our other lazy layabout, Roman Pavlyuchenko. The Guardian haven't missed the bandwagon either, making us favourites to sign Ben Arfa (we could have so much fun in The Shelf if a player by...

Now we can talk about the top four
Posted on 12:49 PM by Unknown
Just over a third of the season has gone and it is a case of so far so good for Tottenham Hotspur. 25 points from 13 games represents an excellent start, but the question will we be fourth when the season finishes? It is a tough ask. The holy grail of a top four finish preoccupies too many clubs – Spurs especially, just ask Martin Jol – but the carrot of Champions League football is hard to ignore. The team is clearly good enough to gatecrash the so-called ‘big four’, but a lot can change between now and May.We are on course for a final points tally...

Managers Delight
Posted on 6:16 AM by Unknown
It looks like we're back to talking about Rafa Benitez losing his job. Liverpool are out of the Champion's League and the world is about to go into meltdown. However, the Kopites don't see it like that and neither do I.After hearing that Portsmouth had sacked (or removed) Paul Hart from the managers chair, I couldn't help but feel that the majority of Chairman seem to be as fickle as the rest of us. Fair enough, we all know that football has evolved into a business, wherein shareholders need to be kept happy, but where has the loyalty gone?True...

Henry: Shut Up!
Posted on 6:10 AM by Unknown
Life at the moment couldn't get any better. The few Spurs fans that are in the office are still trying to wake up from the 9 - 1 dream. Yes, that's nine, one.Trust an Arsenal fan, Steve, to come over and try and spoil it all."Henry said that he thought about quitting after the Ireland match on Friday as it got to him", said Steve.I couldn't help think what a pathetic statement that was from the former Arsenal striker."I nearly quit" isn't a far cry from a recent lottery winner coming out in the press and saying that "I nearly gave all my winnings...

It's probably our fault
Posted on 1:40 PM by Unknown
I've just heard the news that Russia have failed to qualify for the World Cup.I suppose it's our fault for not giving Roman Pavlyuchenko enough playing time? I do wonder what 'the world's greatest manager', Hiddink, will do now (Chelsea anyone)?Didn't it bug you the way the Dutchman went on last season, telling us all just how good Pavlyuchenko was? In fact, our sub was basically too good for us and we simply couldn't reach his level.I personally think Roman's found his level; on our bench. On another note; Come on Ireland!!__________________________Follow...
Huge Desires
Posted on 2:07 AM by Unknown
I thought Daniel Levy was the Tottenham Hotspur Chairman? I was mistaken. It now seems that Mr. Pavlyuchenko is the Chairman of the Board.“I am prepared to accept any decent offer from Russia”, said our new Chairman.Coming back to reality; it looks as though our Cameron Diaz lookalike is so eager to leave us, he's bypassed all forms of control at White Hart Lane. If the statement that appeared in the Mirror is accurate, it seems as though Daniel Levy nor Harry Redknapp have any say in the matter. If a club meets his demands, well, he'll be...

Foster vs. Gomes
Posted on 11:48 AM by Unknown
The everlasting debate of us signing a keeper to replace Gomes, raged through the office once again. I do thank my lucky stars that most of my prestigious colleagues claimed that Gomes is a better keeper than Ben Foster. I didn't want to name and shame the under writer of yet another pointless office rant, but Pat, who also happens to be my boss, started the "Gomes Out" campaign at the beginning of last season. It sometimes got to the point, especially after that away day at Fulham, that we dare not mention the Brazilian's name. Either way, Pat,...

We don't want you either!
Posted on 4:11 AM by Unknown

I read the Sun's article on Huntelaar rejecting a move to Spurs and thought; 'hold on a second, who said we wanted you?'Fair enough, Harry was interested in the summer, but that all changed when Crouch was signed. Milan took the punt on him, spending €15 million (£13 million or so). Oh how they wish they hadn't.The lad has played a total of 8 games (correct me if I'm wrong) for them and scored an astonishing 0 goals (don't correct me because I'm...

Pavlyuchenko's got a new agent
Posted on 5:00 AM by Unknown
I came across Brian Reade's article in the Mirror and couldn't help but ask why he wrote such a Pro-Pavlyuchenko piece? It's as though Roman has made a new friend in Reade, or there's some other fascination not worth thinking about. Either way, Reade did make some valid points about our Russian striker. Unfortunately, he missed out the 'con's' section when pointing out all the 'pro's'.Along with having "potential" (not sure a player that's a month away from his 28th birthday can still have potential), Reade failed to mention the players lazy attitude,...

What was he doing on a motorbike?
Posted on 12:13 PM by Unknown
Firstly, I would like to wish Carlo a speedy recovery.Right, now that I've got that out of the way, I would like to ask what our keeper was doing on a motorbike? I only ask, because after researching the accident rate (you can find that here in the Department of Transport In Depth Study of Motorcycle Accidents) of motorcycles, it's quite clear that all and sundry should stay well clear of them, let alone £35,000 per week professional footballers."Motorcyclists have an especially poor safety record when compared to other road user groups. Football is by no means the endgame of life
Posted on 6:54 AM by Unknown
I awoke to the terrible news yesterday that Robert Enke had taken his life, leaving his wife and daughter behind. This news put my stomach in a knot but also replayed that tired old cliché saying of 'putting things into perspective'. I hadn't known much about the player to be honest, but this horrific story made me eager to find out why a player had been driven to end his own life. As I read the various articles surrounding Enke's life and death, it dawned on me that for a second, I forgot that Robert Enke was more than just a professional footballer;...

Naming Rights
Posted on 6:38 AM by Unknown

A lot has been said in relation to renaming the new stadium that will be built near our home, White Hart Lane, as well as handing out other naming rights to other stadia around the country such as the future New Anfield and Stamford Bridge. Many of us just want the naming rights to be left alone. Abandoned. I was one of them. I, like many others, sentimentally ignored the fact that naming our new stadium XYZ Arena (or whatever), could in fact...

Liverpool, I applaud you
Posted on 3:11 AM by Unknown
I watched the Liverpool vs. Birmingham game on the box yesterday evening and saw the Red's truly batter Birmingham. I muted the TV as I couldn't stand for another Jon Champion assisted commentary and put on Five Live instead. Out of the fire and into the frying pan. Instead of Champion, I got Green, Alan Green. Now, this man either hates everyone (Jimmy Armfield excluded), has an extraordinarily sized chip on his shoulder (thanks Phil), or just simply, detests Rafa Benitez?Either way, it's quite obvious to me that you can count Alan Green in...

Footballers are kings among men
Posted on 6:14 AM by Unknown
The debate regarding footballers doing what they want in society, crept into our lively office conversation this morning. It was interesting to see my fellow colleagues reaction to the Marlon King story. If you've been living in a cave for the last week or so, you can read what Marlon King did here, here and here. The split between the office was fairly interesting. No one stuck up for King, as in saying that he didn't do it and it was mistaken identity, as the player himself stated, but there were a few that felt sorry for the individual.I won't...

Bent is a cheat
Posted on 11:41 AM by Unknown
I was at the Lane this afternoon and from my viewpoint in the Shelf, it looked as though my man of the match, Gomes, was extremely lucky to stay on the pitch after taking out Darren Bent in the penalty area. After watching it on the box at home (about 5 times from various angles), all I can say is that Darren Bent is a filthy cheat. Gomes got to the ball before Darren did and just as Gomes was about to plant his right hand over the ball, Bent dived. Thankfully, justice was served quickly, as Bent hit a woeful penalty. Never mind son, good luck...

Posted on 4:48 AM by Unknown
"I was fighting an uphill battle before I went there. I knew they had Defoe, Berbatov and Keane", said a cheerful Darren Bent yesterday. Hmm, that's interesting mate. Then why did you sign, knowing that you faced an 'uphill battle'?"Every club needs four good strikers they always say. It wasn't just my decision to go there. Other people were influencing it as well."So it wasn't really your decision to sign a £35,000 per week contract? The lad scored a bundle of goals for us, but let's not forget that he also missed a fair lot as well.Thing is,...

I woke up cheerful today, as is normally the case on most Saturday's, especially on Saturday's when we're playing at home. My smile quickly turned into a miserable frown and my joy evolved, faster than than any Richard Dawkin's book, into disgust as I read that Chelsea are now allowed to trade within January's transfer window after the Court of Arbitration in Sport (CAS) postponed the FIFA imposed ban until it (CAS) has heard the club's appeal. That's interesting, as FIFA themselves found Chelsea guilty of seducing French winger Gael Kakuta...

Massive Hart Lane
Posted on 7:42 AM by Unknown
Tomorrow sees us take on Sunderland at home in what has now become a massive match. Steve Bruce has taken them to the next level, although they're a sort of Jackal and Hyde side as they're nowhere near as good on their travels as they are when playing at home. Sound familiar? The good news is that Jones won't be bullying King and Woodgate, but we'll still have Darren Bent to worry about.Defoe will slot right back into the team in place of Crouch probably. I do wish those two were given a run of games. Aaron Lennon is still out apparently.It's...

Midfielder Lite Spurs
Posted on 4:47 AM by Unknown
Right then, the good news is that Harry has spoken openly about us being light in the midfield department."I am happy with the squad. The only area we are short of a body is central midfield", said Harry, in preparation for the January sales.Thank the lord! The only hurdle that I can see us falling on is that teams rarely give away their best players in winter transfer window. The standard names of Sandro, Muntari and the like have been banded about again. Does the media think that if they print these players names out enough times, they will...

Time to keep it shut Harry
Posted on 6:08 AM by Unknown
It wasn’t the wisest pre-match interview to give. Criticising the opposition in the build-up to any match is always ill-advised, but when the inflammatory comments come from a Tottenham manager ahead of a trip to Arsenal, you are asking for trouble. In truth Harry Redknapp did not say anything particularly controversial – he, like the Premier League title betting odds, expect Chelsea or Manchester United to win the league, not the Gunners – but he should have been aware of what the headline writers would seize upon. The complimentary Arsenal comments...

Tomorrow sees us come up against our rivals, Arsenal, in their own backyard. Let's not beat around the bush with this one either; this is our biggest match to-date this season.I don't think Robbie Keane has made the situation easier. Saying that we've got a better squad than them makes Wenger's job a whole lot simpler. Both sets of players are hyped up for this one as it is, pinning Keane's comments to the dressing room door could give them some extra impetus. How do you think Harry will get the lads to play? It's a given that Crouch will partner...
What Academy?
Posted on 4:36 AM by Unknown
I read Mihir Bose's article on Harry's comments relating to the players Arsenal are bringing on.Harry made a few interesting comments that I never knew were not in fruition at Spurs. For example, he said that Arsenal "have got full-time scouts all around the world and they have invested heavily". So does that mean we don't?I'm not too sure of what to make of this? I would have thought that a club of our stature was surely employing a network of scouts from around the world? If we are to take Harry's word for it, then we do not. Now, I find this...

White Kop Lane

What did you make of the Kop-style stand? To be honest, I was fairly annoyed with it at first, but it's definitely begun to grow on me. I'm no architect, so I can't really comment on the acoustics that the new ground will create, but it looks as though KSS (the projects architects) and Levy are pretty adamant that the noise circulating around the stadium will be ferocious. Taking a look at the above image, it looks as though they've stuck to their...

Right then, where do I start? I was at the game and those following my tweets could see that bent frustration I and all those around me felt.I thought the long walk back to the car after seeing us lose was bad enough; how mistaken I was. We had to endure Harry telling us that he was a bit miffed with Aaron Lennon because he came off without telling anyone.Firstly, that's not true. Spurs vs. Stoke - Your Predictions

This will be an interesting one. Harry's been in our minds and hearts for a year now and what a year it's been! I remember his first game in charge. We beat Bolton 2-0 and he was out on the touchline, full of enthusiasm. It really was such a change from the lost looks Juande used to pull. Not much has changed to be honest. The man worked miracles in his first season. Okay, so he continually told us that we only had 2 points from 8 games when he came in, but that's some achievement.Stoke, unfortunately, are no Bolton. We want his kind at The Lane

The Sun reported that Harry's interested in signing Club Brugge defender Vadis Odjidja. The red-top's article wasn't too enlightening either. Apparently, we're lining up a £5 million bid for him.The Sun got it wrong in saying that he's a defender. Odjidja is a defensive midfielder. Whenever I've seen him play, he's deployed just in front of the back four and he's fairly adequate at getting stuck into the oppositions face and break up play. He's strong for his age (20), although his passing could improve and he's quick. From what I've seen of...

If you score, celebrate
Posted on 12:33 PM by Unknown
I can see us beating them 0-2 tomorrow, plain and simple. Let's face it, with the mess that they were (still are) in, Paul Hart had no choice but to bring in Championship players. Championship players normally end up in the Championship. O'Hara, who's been solid for them this season, won't be in the side, whilst King (who Patrick Barclay of the Times called the best centre-half in Britain) should be back. Anyway, let's get back on topic. There's a big chance that one of there ex-players, i.e. Defoe, Crouch, Kranjcar, could score. With that in mind,...

There was a time (last summer) when I would have welcomed Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to The Lane. Thankfully, those days are long now gone. Harry's not to blame

I recently had a chat with Hank, a mate of mine that's a Portsmouth season-ticket holder. He's come along to The Lane a few times and you could say that he know's his football pretty well. The only downer is that he and a lot more Pompey fans blame Harry for their current plight. Now, call me stupid, but how is Harry to blame?Last I saw, Harry took Portsmouth into Europe and transformed them into a respectable Premier League side. I'm not saying...

The Imaginarium of Doctor Palacios
Posted on 4:30 AM by Unknown

Since Harry brought Sgt. Wilson to the club, nearly all of us have been singing his praises. I say 'nearly' as there are some that don't quite get why the rest of us think the world of Palacios. Unfortunately, in recent weeks, I think we've seen the worst of our tough-tackling Honduran. There's no doubt that he's suffering from a lack of form. I don't think I'm the only one that's noticed a fair few of his passes going astray.I don't want to...

Set to steal Pompey
Posted on 7:26 AM by Unknown

The Sun has said that Harry could be lining up a smart little mover for David James. Let's just hope that a deal materialises this time round, although I do think Levy was right to not sanction a £2 million transfer fee for the 39 year old, even if he was the England keeper at the time, which, let's face it, isn't hard to be with the current crop of England keepers.I know there are those out there that think Gomes is great and should be given more...

Points mean prizes
Posted on 4:39 AM by Unknown
Assigning points to games is a trait shared by all football supporters. You know the scenario: sitting down with a pen and a list of your team’s forthcoming fixtures and coming up with a final points tally. If the accusation of unrealistic ambitions is a fair one, Spurs fans do this more than most.Trying to be objective is not always easy (‘we’re due a draw at Old Trafford, so I’m putting a point for that one’) but a glance at Tottenham’s next few Premier League games does give cause for encouragement. A trip to Portsmouth is followed by home matches...

Sulley Muntari's agent, Frank Schreier, said that both Inter and Spurs are in talks. I'll tell you what, this is one deal that I'd be over the moon at.Harry has said a few times that we lack bite and he's not wrong. We saw what happened in the Manchester United, Chelsea and Bolton games. It's quite apparent that Sgt. Wilson can't do it all by himself. The lad needs someone in alongside him and Muntari would be an excellent choice. If there's...

Sol Campbell, fans' favourite
Posted on 6:49 AM by Unknown
Sol Campbell’s departure from Notts County was the most predictable football story of the season so far. The prospect of a recent Premier League regular plying his trade in League Two was an unlikely scenario, but the chances of the big fish sticking at it in a little pond for too long were particularly slim considering the individual involved.County fans can join the growing list of supporters disgruntled by Campbell’s own inimitable transfer market conduct. The anger and disappointment felt by Spurs fans has obviously not been matched, but it...

Chelsea vs. Spurs - Your Predictions
Posted on 6:46 AM by Unknown
Everyone I know has already written us off in this one. Chelsea are looking strong at the moment, really strong. As Harry said, they've got players in their squad that can bully us and as far as I'm concerned, I can see it coming down to how we marshal Drogba and Anelka. If we let them out-power us, then it could be a rout. Harry stated that we've got to take the game to them. I completely agree with him. We don't want to show them too much respect and have to "park the buss in front of their goal".Their movement under Ancelotti has been superb....
