I spent most of the day talking with the rest of the Spurs, Villa, Charlton, Man U, Liverpool and Chelsea fans about our achievement. You'll notice the exclusion of any Arsenal fans in the previous sentence. Here's why...
In the cafeteria, the above mentioned fans were congratulating Tottenham Hotspur's "superb and well deserved achievement this season". It was a Tottenham lovin' to be honest and it felt great! Low and behold, who should walk in, but Bert, the Arsenal fan.
"Deserved it? You lot haven't got a f*cking clue how the game is played and couldn't possibly grasp onto what winning anything of any real value meant.
"Ask any Spurs player to show you their end of season medal for finishing 4th. You had a chance at the F.A. Cup and blew it against a bunch of no-hopers.
"You're light years away from us and this will be brought out in your early season dirty washing. You can kid yourselves all you want mate.
"Same old Tottenham, same old silly fans".
Bitter?
I then read some blog comments and interviews off of other sites. Here's a taster;
"It doesn't matter anyway, they will not win their qualifying match and be in the CL anyway. And to be seeded ... what a joke, when was the last time they got into the CL ? They don't deserve to the seeded at all." - In relation to Spurs being possibly seeded after all.
"I can understand Spurs thinking they can challenge Arsenal after the run they have had. But after 38 games the place you finish is the place you deserve. They didn’t really challenge us enough for me to say they will do it year after year." - Robin van Persie
"It's so funny that the deluded Spuds think that they were anywhere near us this season. There's only one team in London, and that's the Arsenal" - No reason for that comment, it just seems as though they're coming out from every nook and cranny now.
"Stupid Spurs fans. They finally got into the top four. What's so funny with that, is that now, the media will start calling it 'The Top Three'! Hahahahahaha" - Nothing to say about this, as he/she has obviously said it all.
What did you understand from our little exercise? Well, I fully understand just how scared their fans are. Most of the comments above were completely unprovoked. It's as though they know the end is in sight and so have to let a flurry of abuse off at us.
I am sure we'll get a lot more comments from the Arsenal fans on here after they read this. As my father once said, "If the Arsenal fans had brains, they'd be dangerous".
I'll go off and quietly lament our highest placed finish in the Premier League with a mug of Horlicks and the Champion's League anthem playing gently in the background.
Oh, and if you're wondering what happened to Bert after his comments; well, let's just say that I didn't need to say anything at all. Kevin, the Chelsea fan and Anthony, the Manchester City fan took care of that for me.
Well done lads.
