Who should be on Spurs' summer transfer list

Posted on 10:58 AM by Unknown
Harry Redknapp was quick to suggest that the recent successful season would not be followed by a busy summer in the transfer market. Tottenham's manager may be largely happy with his squad, but he is not one to let attractive transfer options pass him by, therefore, there will surely be some new arrivals at Spurs over the coming months as the club prepares to return to European football.

The return of the loanees (Robbie Keane, Alan Hutton, Giovani dos Santos and Jamie O'Hara) will not feel like new additions, as they are likely to leave again, especially as their combined market value is at least £20-25 million.

This would allow Redknapp to dabble in the transfer market to a greater extent than he is seemingly planning to - one big money move for a star player has been hinted at. But what does the team actually need? Tottenham's football betting odds suggest they should be looking to fight for glory on four fronts, so clearly reinforcements are needed.

A different back-up goalkeeping option to Carlo Cudicini is required, although the Italian has signed a new contract, suggesting his injury problems are not a long-term issue. An alternative, perhaps David James, would not prove too expensive, and let's face it, I can't see him wanting to join Spurs if he's going to be 2nd or 3rd in the Spurs Goalkeeping pecking order.

The defence seems well-settled, especially if and when Jonathan Woodgate returns to fitness. Indeed, the manager's apparent satisfaction with his squad applies to all areas, with the only area in real need of improvement being central midfield.

The work permit dependant signing of Sandro will help competition for places, but the team's engine room was short of goals last term and some creative talent needs to be brought in. The potential departures of Jermaine Jenas and David Bentley would make more funds for fees and wages available. Do you want Bentley and Jenas to leave?

Joe Cole's future at Chelsea is still not settled and the presence of Redknapp and Champion's League football at Spurs might prove alluring to a player feeling undervalued at Stamford Bridge. He could still star for England in the Football World Cup 2010 and is by no means passed his best, although he has suffered a great deal from injuries in the last 18 months. Let's not forget that Joe Cole is only 28 and should be at his peak. Stephen Ireland is another player who has slipped out of favour and both players' clever movement and eye for goal would be attractive to the manager. I'd prefer Ireland over Cole, but then again, knowing how Harry works, we could buy the two of them!

The future at Spurs is bright and Redknapp should have no trouble in persuading potential major signings that they should be a part of it.

Anyone else heard the rumour that Edin Dzeko's agent, Irfan Redzepagic, was in London this weekend, possibly meeting up with Daniel Levy?

Which of the Six Spurs Stars Will make Capello’s Final Cut?

Posted on 11:58 PM by Unknown
The news that six of our stars from the past season, Ledley King, Tom Huddlestone, Aaron Lennon, Peter Crouch, Jermaine Defoe and, at long last, Michael Dawson made Fabio Capello’s provisional 30 man England squad for this summer’s World Cup finals in South Africa reflects well on the club in what has been an outstanding season.

England’s chances are reckoned to be good too. Betting exchange trading over the past few months has seen England emerge as clear third favourites behind Spain and Brazil and there is little doubt, barring another injury to one of our key players, England will take a strong 23 man squad on the plane down to South Africa in a few weeks time.

However will all six Spurs stars make the final cut? Let’s examine their chances...

Ledley King - Fabio Capello watched a few critical Tottenham games over the last few weeks of the season and he cannot have failed to have been impressed by King. Imperious as ever and with his knees standing up to the rigours of 3 games in 10 days, King is now a nailed on certainty to travel. Behind Terry and Ferdinand, he remains England’s firm third choice centre back and King’s form has been better than both Terry’s and Ferdinand’s for most of the season. So long as his knee holds out, King will easily make the squad and if Ferdinand and Terry’s form doesn’t improve, I would not be too surprised to see him make the team, especially after his performance against Mexico.

Michael Dawson - It seems like Fabio Capello may take four centre backs with him to South Africa and with Terry, Ferdinand and King all seemingly certain to go, Dawson faces a tussle with Jamie Carragher and Matthew Upson for the final slot. Form wise, Dawson’s the obvious pick. He has had a great season, especially when compared to Carragher and Upson. The downside is his lack of England experience. Carragher could well go due to his versatility (interestingly, Capello has no obvious right back cover for Glen Johnson) and if Carragher goes as Johnson’s back up, a spot could well open up for Dawson.

Aaron Lennon - I feel confident in asserting that Aaron Lennon is a nailed on certainty to travel to South Africa this summer. Even given his injury problems in 2010, Lennon has been the most productive right sided player for England over the past 18 months or so. Walcott and Wright-Phillips have had their chance but have not taken it as well as Aaron has. His return to fitness comes at an ideal time for Capello and it would be a huge shock, not to mention a terrible mistake, if Capello overlooked the winger.

Tom Huddlestone - Midfield is the area of the England team where places are perhaps up for grabs. Barry, Gerrard, Lennon and Lampard are certainties to go barring injury and it seems likely that James Milner, due to his versatility and performances this season, will earn a place. That does leave however 2-3 places up for grabs. Huddlestone faces direct competition from Scott Parker and Michael Carrick for a spot in the squad and much will depend on Barry’s fitness. If the Man City man doesn’t make it, Huddlestone’s chances of making the plane increase hugely as he is Barry’s most natural replacement ahead of the somewhat one dimensional Carrick, however if Barry makes the team, Tom may just miss out this time around. Also, how bad was Carrick against Mexico? What has happened to the lad?

Peter Crouch - Crouchy is guaranteed a seat on the plane barring injury. Quite simply, his goalscoring record for England is second only to Wayne Rooney in the current squad and he actually has a better goalscoring ratio for England than the United man. Heskey will make the squad because he is the ‘battering ram’ striker Capello favours to bring the best from Rooney, but he isn’t going to score you goals. Crouch is the only other option to Heskey and is a far better player technically and has a far superior goalscoring record. Quite simply, Crouch is a certainty to go and he can bring a few tubes of Pringles with him!

Jermain Defoe - Surely Defoe won't miss out on another World Cup at the last minute? My real concerns are that he may. Defoe’s chances increase greatly if Capello takes five strikers, but if the Italian opts for four, as seems likely, and with Rooney, Crouch and Heskey certainties, then it is a straight tussle between Defoe and Bent for the final spot on the plane. Defoe has the shirt at the moment thanks mainly to his England form over the past 12 months or so, but Bent is in form. A couple of goals in the forthcoming friendlies should cement Defoe’s place in the squad, but if Bent takes his chances instead, I really feel Jermain could miss out. However Defoe is made of stronger stuff these days, he has already seen off the challenges of the likes of Man Utd misfit Dimitar Berbatov, Robbie Keane and Roman Pavlyuchenko to earn his starting place in the Tottenham first team, I’m sure he will do the same over the next two games with England.

Capello’s Final 23 : A Prediction:

Goalkeepers: Joe Hart, David James, Robert Green

Defenders: Glen Johnson, Jamie Carragher, Rio Ferdinand, John Terry, Ledley King, Michael Dawson, Ashley Cole, Leighton Baines

Midfielders: Aaron Lennon, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Gareth Barry (if not fit: Tom Huddlestone), James Milner, Theo Walcott, Adam Johnson, Joe Cole

Forwards: Peter Crouch, Wayne Rooney, Emile Heskey, Jermain Defoe

Capello's vote of no-confidence

Posted on 5:30 AM by Unknown
fabio capello, Tottenham hotspur blog newsFabio Capello has started to surprise people. The ill-advised dabble into entrepreneurship through his Capello Index brought back memories of the Sven Goran Eriksson years, but it was his seemingly sudden shift in selection policy that raised more eyebrows.

Capello has always stressed the importance of fitness and form over status and past performances, but he has abandoned that approach in recent weeks. The recruitment of Jamie Carragher and the failed wooing of Paul Scholes have tarnished the manager's reputation for giving the most deserving candidates a chance, regardless of other factors.

Forget the Capello Index, the begging of retired players to return will do more damage to team morale. The established pecking order has been thrown out, with performances during the qualification campaign ignored in the hunt for experience. It says little for Capello's faith in the in-form younger options.

Carragher and Scholes have had moderate club seasons and should have been left as ex-internationals. It will be scandalous if the superior Michael Dawson or Ledley King misses out on the final squad because of Carragher's return. The World Cup betting makes England third favourites for the tournament, and they will need a strong backline if they are to live up to expectations.

The fans might not be too impressed either. Carragher was rightly criticised for the manner of his retirement and the prolonged sulk shows his indifferent attitude to the national shirt.

The initial inclusion Joe Cole and Gareth Barry is understandable, as they are amongst the best options in their respective positions. However, anyone who has placed an England World Cup bet will be horrified if players who are clearly lacking fitness are taken to South Africa.

Capello has plenty of good will to draw on, but we might look back on recent weeks as the period that Capello started to lose support from players, fans and media.

A Nigerian billionaire is plotting to buy a stake in Arsenal

Posted on 12:27 AM by Unknown
....but only if the current Arsenal board send him £100,000 so that he can get his money out of Nigeria safely.

I can picture Arsenal's Chairman, Hill-Wood, waiting to hear if the Nigerian businessman, has received his reply that the £100,000 will be wired by Western Union on Monday morning.

I wonder how this all went down? Probably something like this;

"Dear Mr. Hill-Wood, my name is Aliko Dangote, and I am one of the richest men in Africa. Unfortunately, my funds (worth in excess of £4.7 billion) have been ceased by the government.

"I am now attempting to leave the country and I see that your club has not given Mr. Wenger any money for a long time. I can help in this matter. If you can help me, I will give you £500 million.

"I have bribed a government official into allowing me to leave, but I need to give him £100,000. Please wire me this small amount and as soon as I am free to leave Nigeria, I will hand over the £500 million for assisting me. I await your email."

********

Surely someone at The Sun (the red top that published this article) saw the funny side? You always have to suspect something is up, especially when the paper credits a story to simply "Published: Today".

Joe Cole could be Arsenal bound

Posted on 4:15 AM by Unknown
Had a few mates round last night, and as usual, we were discussing who'd be in and out of the Spurs team. Barry, a closet Spurs fan, but Arsenal season ticket holder down at the Arabic Library, told us all that he is confident Joe Cole will join Arsenal as soon as Fabregas is sold to Barcelona.

I really wish that were true, as I cannot see how Cole would fit into our team, unless Harry was planning on selling Luka Modric to Chelsea, which I can't see happening by the way.

This summer could be our most important in decades, so let's just hope Harry and Levy get it right.

Is this the beginning of the end of Arsenal?

Posted on 12:00 PM by Unknown
Cesc Fabregas Leaving Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur Blog NewsI've just heard an interview on talkSPORT with the Spanish football pundit, Guillem Balague. It's basically curtains for Cesc Fabregas' 7 year stint with Arsenal as it looks like he has told Wenger that he wants to leave now, rather than later, with Barcelona being his preferred choice.

Now, if this report is true, and I presume it is, it looks as though Cesc has finally given up on the Wenger Project. In fact, it's a slap in the face for the entire establish at Arsenal.

Why?

Because the belief that doing things Wenger's way, is no longer there.

How long is Fabregas supposed to stick around while the "young players" develop? How many times do you think the lad can sit by and watch the British media drool over another one of Walcott's runs that simply have no end product? How many times has he had to place his head in his hands because every Arsenal keeper has just fluffed another howler?

If he does go, it may leave a dent so large in Arsenal's heart, that filling it, may prove to be an impossible feat. He is their captain, their talisman. Make no bones about it; Fabregas is the player that makes their setup tick along.

How does all of this play on the mind of van Persie? Does the Dutchman still believe in Wenger's Project? Does Wenger himself believe in it any more? I suppose we'll have to wait and see how this pans out.

If Arsenal can't find an adequate replacement, how long before their time is up? I suppose they could recall Jack Wilshere from Bolton, and wait for him to develop? What's another few years, eh?

Some have said that the club just doesn't have the funds to go out and buy the players needed. Is Wenger covering for his Board? I think the truth will out this summer.

The sustained success of a football club cannot go on forever. Oh, what am I saying? Arsenal's last success came 5 years ago!

The Discussion

Posted on 7:59 AM by Unknown
Here is a message I received from an extremely passionate Spurs fan, via Facebook;

Aaron Barnes 18 May at 15:54
Hey!

Ok can't wait for next season!!! We've got Sandro already signed but I don't know much about him. I think we need a fast striker for when Defoe's out. Pav and Crouch just don't have pace. I think Keane maybe sold to finance any deals. I'm not sure we need too much more though.

We need to hang on to Bale and Modric. There's talk of Joe Cole, who I think is quality, but can he play in the same team as Modric? I don't know...

We'll have to see I guess...

Here's my response:

Jaymes Marsh 18 May at 16:01
Hi mate,

Give Sandro at least 2 seasons to bed in, and then some. Young players that come over from Brazil, normally take a good 18 months to adjust to life away from what they're used to.

The Modfather won't be going anywhere. Keane will be sold, as will Pavlyuchenko, Jenas, Taarabt (to Real Madrid or Barcelona; the lad just has to make up his mind where he wants to play :-), Dos Santos, O'Hara, Hutton, and Dervite.

Harry has been given assurances that he will have money to spend, plus the money we make from any sales. Therefore, you could be looking at a £50-60 million kitty! Is that enough though?

Woodgate may announce his retirement next month, so Harry may go in for Micah Richards. I still think we need a commanding central midfielder. So I would like Harry to buy big in that department. There's been some chatter on the forums in relation to us selling on Palacios, but I can't see that happening. The lad does need to learn to not give the ball away so much.

All in all, our squad is brewing with quality at the moment, so there really isn't any need for us to make wholesale changes.

Anyone you'd want us to sign? Be realistic though mate.

*********

In other news, Carlo Cudicini has signed for another year. I suppose that puts to bed any rumours of us signing David James (thank God!).

Would you swap Super Pavlyuchenko?

Posted on 4:20 AM by Unknown

Would you get rid of Roman Pavlyuchenko? Some media outlets are convinced Harry is attempting to swap Pav for Benayoun.

I personally wouldn't.

Now, I'm not saying that we shouldn't get rid of Pav, but to swap him with Yossi Benayoun makes no sense to me. If you're going to move on a striker, then it's normally wise to bring in a replacement. I can't see Keano staying on, therefore, if we do sell on Pavlyuchenko, Robbie Keane and don't make Gudjohnsen's transfer permanent, we'll be left with just Defoe and Crouch. Now that's definitely something I can't see happening.

I have always had a gut feeling that Roman wouldn't last the pace here. Even when he started scoring, you could see that there was something still wrong; something not entirely right with the lad.

We've been linked with a few strikers already and the close-season's only 6 days old. Most Spurs fans can image just how many strikers we're going to be linked with prior to the season kicking off.

Dzeko is the lad that has caught my eye. Since asking the question of who Edin Dzeko was, I have seen a fair few YouTube clips of him in action. Now I know YouTube doesn't paint a fair and accurate picture of any footballer, but it sure does look like Dzeko knows where the onion bag is.

If we are to ship Pav off, let's bring in a player that is determined and talented. Dzeko could just be that player. Benayoun clearly isn't.

Levy's £40 million Warchest!

Posted on 2:59 AM by Unknown
In the last few days, I've read that Daniel Levy has told Harry Redknapp that he will have £40 million in which to spend on the right players.

Now, hold on a second; did Daniel Levy publically come out with this information? If so, where was I?

I can understand that for the past few seasons, we've been good at getting our wallet out, but I haven't read that "Tottenham will have an £x million warchest" since Ossie Ardiles was in charge and we went on a little shopping spree, bringing in Klinsmann, Popescu, and Dumitrescu.

It also looks like the papers have sold Robbie Keane and Jermaine Jenas too. Not that I mind of course. Jenas has been on his way to Villa for the past 4 seasons now, so I am sure he'll finally find his way. Not sure who'd take on Robbie Keane though. I think he can still do a job for someone in the Premier League. Whether or not that someone is willing to pay his vast wages, is another matter.

So who is this Edin Dzeko that we've been linked with then? Wiki tells me that he's a fairly tall lad and has scored a lottery of goals for Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga. I've never seen him play and so I'm not too sure what type of player he's likened to.

Joe Cole's name has also come up again and again and again. A player we should have nothing to do with in my opinion. If he comes in, he'll either be brought in to replace The Modfather, or he'll have to find a comfy spot on the bench.

Anyway, here's to our Warchest!

Take your hat off for Dunga

Posted on 12:57 PM by Unknown
Brazil Manager, Dunga, Tottenham Hotspur Blog News
The Brazilian Manager, Dunga, has already selected his final 23 man squad; bypassing the 30 man selection squad, which would have seen him have to break the hearts of 7 players.

Why did he do this? Because he already knows who he is taking to the World Cup.

When asked why he didn't consider Ronaldinho or Adriano, he simply said;

"An individual can win you a match, but it takes a team to win a tournament".

Is there anything Capello can glean from the way Dunga is running his side?

Photoshopped to Death: Spurs New Kits

Posted on 1:00 PM by Unknown
Tottenham-Hotspur-New-2010-2011-Kits, Tottenham Hotspur Blog NewsWhen I saw this image yesterday, I emailed it to my cousin who works as an Art Director for DogStar. Here's her reply;

"Just by looking at this image Carlos, I can tell you that they have been Photoshopped. I doubt a club like Spurs and a retail giant like Puma would have Photoshopped their kits before putting them together, although this doesn't prove that they're not the kits your side will use next season."

If they are real, then great. But as is the case with new kits, we always seem to jump ahead of ourselves.

I'm not sure Zurich is going to be the sponsors either.

Aren't Arsenal Fans Bitter?

Posted on 12:12 PM by Unknown
Tottenham Hotspur Champion's League Logo, Tottenham Hotspur Blog NewsToday was my first day back in the office since last Wednesday's Champion's League Play-off, which we rightly won (cue the Champion's League anthem).

I spent most of the day talking with the rest of the Spurs, Villa, Charlton, Man U, Liverpool and Chelsea fans about our achievement. You'll notice the exclusion of any Arsenal fans in the previous sentence. Here's why...

In the cafeteria, the above mentioned fans were congratulating Tottenham Hotspur's "superb and well deserved achievement this season". It was a Tottenham lovin' to be honest and it felt great! Low and behold, who should walk in, but Bert, the Arsenal fan.

"Deserved it? You lot haven't got a f*cking clue how the game is played and couldn't possibly grasp onto what winning anything of any real value meant.

"Ask any Spurs player to show you their end of season medal for finishing 4th. You had a chance at the F.A. Cup and blew it against a bunch of no-hopers.

"You're light years away from us and this will be brought out in your early season dirty washing. You can kid yourselves all you want mate.

"Same old Tottenham, same old silly fans".

Bitter?

I then read some blog comments and interviews off of other sites. Here's a taster;

"It doesn't matter anyway, they will not win their qualifying match and be in the CL anyway. And to be seeded ... what a joke, when was the last time they got into the CL ? They don't deserve to the seeded at all." - In relation to Spurs being possibly seeded after all.

"I can understand Spurs thinking they can challenge Arsenal after the run they have had. But after 38 games the place you finish is the place you deserve. They didn’t really challenge us enough for me to say they will do it year after year." - Robin van Persie

"It's so funny that the deluded Spuds think that they were anywhere near us this season. There's only one team in London, and that's the Arsenal" - No reason for that comment, it just seems as though they're coming out from every nook and cranny now.

"Stupid Spurs fans. They finally got into the top four. What's so funny with that, is that now, the media will start calling it 'The Top Three'! Hahahahahaha" - Nothing to say about this, as he/she has obviously said it all.

What did you understand from our little exercise? Well, I fully understand just how scared their fans are. Most of the comments above were completely unprovoked. It's as though they know the end is in sight and so have to let a flurry of abuse off at us.

I am sure we'll get a lot more comments from the Arsenal fans on here after they read this. As my father once said, "If the Arsenal fans had brains, they'd be dangerous".

I'll go off and quietly lament our highest placed finish in the Premier League with a mug of Horlicks and the Champion's League anthem playing gently in the background.

Oh, and if you're wondering what happened to Bert after his comments; well, let's just say that I didn't need to say anything at all. Kevin, the Chelsea fan and Anthony, the Manchester City fan took care of that for me.

Well done lads.

Harry's "Special One"

Posted on 3:29 AM by Unknown
So then, we've all heard Harry come out and say that there won't be too many changes and that there may be "one special signing that will take the club to the next level".

So you can imagine my confusion when we've got the likes of Real Madrid's Raul and City's Craig Bellamy linked with us.

Let's get something straight, I personally wouldn't mind either player joining up with the squad as both have something to offer, especially with Raul's Champion's League experience. And contrary to popular belief, Raul does speak perfect English, as those who have heard The Guardian's Spain-based journalist and Spurs fan, Sid Lowe, interview Raul, can attest to.

Craig Bellamy offers something different. Unfortunately, his unpredictability comes as part of the package. I would say that a majority of sides would want a happy Bellamy in their dressing room. When the coin is turned, no side want an unhappy Craig, for he has the uncanny ability of being able to turn all and sundry 360.

So far, the above mentioned players aren't in the "special signings" category, are they?

If we are to review our current squad, I personally can't see any position, other than in central midfield, being filled.

Talking of central midfield; Sandro will join us in August, but he'll need time to settle and I can't see him being an asset next season. Therefore, I do feel that a commanding central midfielder is needed, preferably with Champion's League experience.

If you read this blog regularly, you'll know my thoughts on bringing in Joe Cole. I just can't see him fitting in anywhere without disrupting the apple cart.

I must have said it a thousand times, but Moussa Sissoko is a fantastic player. If we're to get him, Harry and Daniel are going to have to move fast, for if the rumours doing the rounds in the New Library are anything to go by, Wenger is sniffing around the Toulouse box-to-box midfielder.

Whatever happens, I am sure the close season will see us linked to basically everyone. But as is the case with our manager, he already knows who he wants to bring in.

Disgrace!

Posted on 3:18 AM by Unknown
So far this morning, all I've been reading, listening to and viewing on TV, is that Liverpool's Jamie Carragher has been asked back into England contention by Fabio Capello.

Hold on a sec; am I missing something here? Isn't this the guy that said himself in an interview that he wanted to retire from the England scene because he would rather spend more time with his family than warming the England bench?

This season, Capello has thus far dismissed Michael Dawson. Why? You'd have to ask him. Instead of going by his own rules, he decides to bring back a player that has said that he'd rather lay on his couch than sit on the England bench.

Talking about Capello's rules; the one that springs to mind is where he specifically said that unless a player is playing regularly and in form, he would not be picked to join the England squad.

Call me biased, but Michael Dawson has done more than enough to warrant a place in the final 23 man squad. What has Jamie Carragher done? In my opinion, he's gone backwards. We all saw that his legs had gone in the first game of the season when we beat them convincingly 2-1. Since then, he's helped his team to a possible 6th position in the Premier League. We're talking about Liverpool by the way; he's helped Liverpool to a possible 6th position finish.

Dawson has worked his socks off and helped Tottenham Hotspur to a possible 3rd place finish.

Oh, and don't get me started on about Emile Heskey. Fabio, why even tell the media what your selection policy was, if you yourself can't stick to it?

Of course, Capello could decide to take both; but that's not why I am ranting on. Instead of assuring Michael Dawson of a place, he's assured Carragher of a place in the final 23 man squad, if we are to believe reports.

Absolute disgrace!

Hung on Joe Cole

Posted on 2:05 AM by Unknown
moussa sissoko, mahamadou diarra and joe_cole linked with Spurs, Tottenham Hotspur Blog News
So it begins....It looks as though we've officially entered the "This Player is Linked with Spurs" window of the year.

If you think us being linked with an average of 30 players per window was bad, you ain't seen nothing yet! Now that we're partially through to the Champion's League, you can expect us to be linked with absolutely everyone.

Towards the end of July 2009, we published an article saying the Joe Cole could be a target. Football agent and friend of Cole, Barry Silkman, said that Harry was interested in the little fella and that Cole too, was interested in maybe linking back up with his former boss.

Since then, Cole has yet to sign an extension to this contract and will be a free man as off July. The papers say that Cole's demanding around £100,000, although Chelsea don't see him as as £100K per week man.

Thing is, does Harry and more importantly, Daniel Levy, see Cole earning £100,000 per week at Spurs?

First off, where would we play him? Bale, who just signed a contract extension (taking him to 2014) plays out on the left. We have the Modfather in the centre and Aaron Lennon on the right.

I know it's a squad game now, but you can't have Cole sitting on the bench and earning £100K surely?

We've been linked with Michael Carrick and frankly, I'd take him over Joe Cole. If we're honest, we don't need to make wholesale changes to our squad. I believe we need a commanding central midfield general, someone in the ilk of Toulouse's, Moussa Sissoko, or Real Madrid's, Mahamadou Diarra. Both these players are looking to leave their respective clubs and both can do a decent job for us.

So Joe Cole doesn't get my vote, well, not if he's going to be on £100,000 per week and bench warming.

Come On You Spurs

Posted on 10:50 AM by Unknown
Right then, this is it, the most important game in the Premier League that Tottenham Hotspur have been a part of.

Make no mistake, tonight's humdinger IS a Champion's League Play-off match. A match, some have said, that could be worth near on £30 million. This is our six-pointer.

But, we all knew all of that in the first place. Thing is, do the players know it? You would think they do.

Having a chat with a few fellow Yids today, churned out the following responses;

"We'll freeze, just like we did against Manchester United and end up losing".

"City? Who are they? We'll win 1-3 mate".

"It's billed as the game of all games, yet I have the feeling it will be a bore draw".

I have to agree with the last comment, although, I do have a feeling that we'll come out of the traps all guns blazing and score the early goal.

If anything, this may be one of the longest 90 minute football matches you're likely to see in a long time.

Manchester City 0-1 Tottenham Hotspur

I can dream, can't I?

Stadium Sponsor Possibly Leaked

Posted on 1:25 AM by Unknown
Yesterday, we published an article in relation to Chris hearing a rumour that a company had struck a deal with Spurs.

Let's make one thing clear; no details as to the deal were disclosed. We only guessed that the investment from the international conglomerate could be put towards the stadium naming rights.

Since the article went live, we have been asked to take down the article and have since complied.

We apologise for the inconvenience caused.

Regards
THBN

How would you play against City?

Posted on 8:53 AM by Unknown
young harry redknapp, Tottenham Hotspur Blog News

Harry has pledged that we'll attack up at Eastlands on Wednesday night. If he means us producing an attacking display that resembles the one we produced against Manchester United last weekend, he can forget it.

A display against City that emulates the performance against Chelsea at home, will do nicely.

Under Mancini, City have proved that they're a bit of a hard nut to crack. Their conservative, hit on the break play, could hurt us, as could Redknapp opting to play Bale as a left back.

It was good to see that we hadn't given away any penalties against Bolton yesterday. Hopefully, this trend can continue.

I also wanted to know what the reason for playing Ledley against Bolton was all about? Surely he should have been rested for what is turning out to be the biggest game of this, or any other season in the Premier League?

Either way, it's hotting up!

Complacency

Posted on 3:09 AM by Unknown
Complacency - a feeling of quiet pleasure or security, often while unaware of some potential danger, defect, or the like; self-satisfaction or smug satisfaction with an existing situation, condition, etc.

All I've heard from us Spurs fans is that we shouldn't worry about today's game as the City game is by far the most important.

Hold on a second! City's game will be the most important game this season, IF we beat Bolton today at White Hart Lane.

A lot of my mates think that all we have to do is simply turn up and the 3 points will be in the bag.

Need I not remind you of what happened when "we turned up" to play Wolves at home? What about the Stoke fiasco? I suppose you could throw the 0-0 draw against Hull into the mix to. Oh, and I nearly forgot the magic word....Portsmouth.

I don't want to sound like too much of a pessimist, but just turning up, doesn't guarantee a win. I think it's fair to say that some of the Bolton players will already be at the beach, but never underestimate Owen Coyle and his dynamism.

You can expect Coyle to pack his midfield and try to make it especially hard for us. If we are to win and win comfortably, we'll need to get an early goal. If we can score within the first 10 minutes, the Lane will start buzzing.

We obviously hope for a win, but let's also hope for a superb atmosphere that will send the players into Wednesday night's game on a high.

Prediction: Tottenham 2-0 Bolton
