As I watched today's game against City from a pub in sunny Cyprus, I was pretty sure that our players were on holiday to.
Defoe opened the scoring with a cheeky back-heeled half-volley, but other than that, we were entirely flat. Tottenham's timing was all over the place. Mislaid passes, no concentration, and whoever is impersonating Robbie Keane should be shot; for Keane was on the pitch, but I assure you, only in body. His spirit is laying on a beach somewhere not too far from me, although his Romario/Bebeto goal-scoring celebration brought some laughs out of two gooner scum sitting in the corner.
We did have some excitement put our way when Defoe thrashed out at the linesman; knocking him to the ground. Whether Jermain thought the linesman was a City player is anyone's guess?
City came out with all their guns blazing in the second half, only for ex-England international turned Mohichan, Richards, to tumble over Manchester United loanee, Campbell in the box, which in turn led to the Keane impersonator scoring from the spot.
Final score: Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Manchester City.
A few Geordies where in the other corner, swearing and hitting their heads against the oak-finished wall. "Newcastle will go down", they bellowed. You heart has to go out to them, or not.
